Here it is! PATHS OF DESIRE is the second CD album from Damian Clarke, full of the beautiful sound
of the hammer dulcimer playing several romantic songs and tunes from Ireland, England and Germany.
The CD also includes two tracks played on the hurdy gurdy along with the sound of the celtic harp.
Damian’s musical partners from Pressgang contribute supporting sounds from the accordion, whistle,
bass and drums. The tracks range from traditional songs and tunes from Ireland such as “Ned of the Hill”,
and “The Salley Gardens” (with a verse sung in Irish) to songs sung in Friesian, “Salangt de wyn”, and
Bavarian German, “Ach Bittrer Winter”. There are original compositions
such as the atmospheric “Raintrickle” and the medieval elemental
song “Nobody tell”.As a bonus track, there is a guest contribution
from Dom Duff, the leading Breton singer, who has translated
“Ned of the Hill” into Breton especially for this CD.
Damian’s first solo CD, “The River Wherever” received
great reviews from many of the leading folk music
magazines including FOLK ROOTS, R2, FOLKER
TAPLAS and NONSUCH DULCIMER magazine
