Damian has a new solo CD album released by Voxpop called “Paths of Desire”. A collection of 12 songs played mostly
on the Hammer Dulcimer. You can read more about the CD and hear tracks by clicking on the CD cover below.
His solo concerts are played on the beautiful hammer dulcimer and hurdy gurdy, along with unaccompanied
songs that he encourages audiences to sing along to, all passionately delivered. He often performs
at community events where he introduces audiences to these rare and delightful instruments.
Damian is also known for his performances with the rock-folk band, PRESSGANG which he founded in 1986.
Since then he has toured in over 12 countries, made 8 albums, and played everywhere from
television to theatres, from festivals to street fairs.
His musical mission is to perform traditional material, and to make it appeal to a wider
audience than the folk scene, especially for younger ears. He is a supporter of the movement
to protect minority cultures from extinction, as he values variety. He sings small nation language
songs such as Irish, Plat Deutsch, and Breton, and is fascinated by cultures meeting and cross fertilising.
This can also be seen in his artwork which can be seen here. He likes to challenge pre-conceptions
in music and art, to illustrate new thoughts, to encourage and inspire.
